Error: This version of ScanDisk will only...(due to not wrong version of ScanDisk).
Error:
This version of Microsoft SCANDISK will work only with MS-DOS versions 6.0 and later.
Cause:
The old MS-DOS version of ScanDisk is being run from the DOS directory or a floppy diskette from the Windows 95 MS-DOS prompt. This version does not run in Windows 95.
Solution:
Run the Windows 95 version of ScanDisk by selecting 'Programs', 'Accessories', and 'System Tools', and 'ScanDisk'.
1) Run ScanDisk from the Windows 95 'Start' menu:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Programs' and select 'Accessories'.
c) Select the 'System Tools' menu and select 'ScanDisk'. (The 'ScanDisk' dialog box appears.)
d) Select the drive to be checked for errors from the drive list.

e) Select one of the following radio buttons from the 'Types of test' group:
1] Select the 'Standard' radio button to examine only files and folders.

2] Select the 'Thorough' radio button to check files and folders, and also scan the surface of the disk for bad sectors.

NOTE: Surface testing requires a longer period of time.
f) (Optional) Select the 'Automatically fix errors' check box.

g) Click 'Start'. (The 'ScanDisk Results' dialog box appears when complete.)

h) Click 'Close' to close the 'ScanDisk Results' dialog box.
i) Click 'Close' to close the 'ScanDisk' dialog box.
2) Run ScanDisk from the WINDOWS\COMMAND directory:
a) Open 'MS-DOS Prompt'.

NOTE: The MS-DOS prompt opens to the WINDOWS directory.
b) Type the following command at the DOS prompt and press ENTER:
CD\COMMAND
c) Type the following command at the DOS prompt and press ENTER:
SCANDISK
d) Repeat steps 1)a) through 1)i) above.
